In the pub, on Friday afternoon, my husband decided that that was not a good plan, because we are adventurers. Adventurers aren't allowed to spend their weekends gardening, apparently.
Adventurers head to Bath!
The Abbey is absolutely stunning - we sat outside the nicest little coffee shop, drinking the nicest coffee (cherry undertones, apparently!) and watching the crowds. There were a lot of people around - coach trips from all over the world! It was super busy.
We visited the market too. It was quirky; my favourite part was the books. So many books! Strange vintage teapots came a very close second, of course.
Bath is much bigger than I was expecting. Although it doesn't take that long to get from one side to the other, the city has so many adorable small and twisting streets, with beautiful old buildings and so much charm. One visit, and I am in love.
We took a stroll up to the Royal Crescent. It's pretty and very Austen, but not as breath taking as I expected.
There were so many perfect little vintage and antique shops. Books, clothing, human spines...vintage shops are my happy place.
(I promise you, I saw a human spine for sale. I really wanted it. Husband was tempted, but overall, is far too sensible).

Bath is definitely a city of hidden secrets; sunken courtyard gardens, green spaces, tiny cosy coffee shops and weird independent retailers.

We stumbled across a carnival! Not a bad day for a last minute road trip.
Whether you are vintage shopping, day tripping or just in need of a stroll, Bath is a perfect city. I can't wait to visit again...maybe every weekend for the next month or two?
